3 Ways to Help Prep for Back to School

by Waverly Wilde

School is right around the corner in San Diego, which means it’s time to get ready for all the mayhem the scholastic year brings. From classroom supply shopping, to meal prepping, to driving to sport practice, it’s time you had a little help to make back to school easier. Here are a few tips to get you on the road to a smoother start to school.

Meal Prep Like a Master

If there’s one thing that will save you time every morning, it’s having breakfast, lunches, and snacks ready to go the day – or even a couple of days – before school starts. There are many ways to do this and all it requires is a little prepping set aside from you and a refrigerator to store your creations in.

Start by laying out 5 Tupperware containers per child so that there is one for every day of the week. Fill each container with meals that will stay fresh for a couple of days and not ones that are likely to expire quickly. When packing the lunches, it’s always a good idea to use the rule of three: Main course, produce, and side or dessert. For example, one of your containers could include a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a sliced-up apple, and yogurt.

Sunday tends to be a good day for prepping meals but find a time the works into your schedule so that this becomes a simple routine you can tackle once a week. Less time making lunches means more productive time in the morning.

Wash Those Worries Away

If you’ve taken on the responsibility of washing all your child’s clothes, football jerseys, P.E. attire, drama production outfits, and so on, you may feel like laundry is the bane of your existence. Whether it’s hurting your back from all the bending down and removing clothes from the dryer or just feeling frustrated at the fact that you never seem to have an empty laundry basket, washing clothes can become a rather overwhelming chore after a while. But, with a little assistance from a sidekick pedestal, your washing woes will be a worry of the past.

These little guys may be called a sidekick, but really they are the unsung hero you and your laundry machines have been needing. Nestling right below your washer and dryer, it lifts your washing appliances, ensuring your back doesn’t bend down too far anymore. It is also an extra washing machine! Instead of throwing a single pair of gym shorts in the washer and wasting a ton of water, you can easily wash smaller loads in your sidekick. Now when the kids need one or two things washed quickly for school, it’s never a hassle.

Coffee and Chill

What if every morning, before you woke up, there was a little caffeine fairy that prepared your brew just the way you liked it? Well, it may not have wings but having a built-in coffee machine is a pretty magical tool that’ll make sure you get your cup of joe exactly the way you want it, when you want it.

Waking up before the kids can be tough but knowing that your coffee is waiting for you in the kitchen could be the motivation you needed to get you up and help you ease into the day quicker. Wake up on the right side of bed when the first thing you smell is your favorite warm roast every morning.
